Type 304 brushed stainless steel

Qasair and Condor Rangehoods are made from the highest quality austenitic, 18/8, type 304 brushed, non-magnetic stainless steel that is resistant to corrosion.

Type 304 stainless steel is a steel alloy that is rendered resistant to corrosion with the addition of chromium.  Stainless steel contains sufficient chromium to form a passive layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel thereby preventing the steel from corroding.

The chromium oxide layer can be upset by the application of salt, lemon juice, tomato sauce, mayonnaise or anything that contains a preservative.

As long as Qasair and Condor Rangehoods do not come into contact with corrosive substances, they will always look pristine.

Type 316 marine grade stainless steel

Condari can manufacture rangehoods and ducting in Type 316 Marine Grade stainless steel.

Marine Grade steel can be a good option for Condor Rangehoods in outdoor areas situated near the sea.  Salt in seawater may cause stainless steels to corrode or rust more easily.

It is important to clean regularly with a polish like Sta-Glo and even rub olive oil over the surface of the rangehood if the house is vacant for long periods.
