It is very important to select the correct rangehood to suit the cooking appliances and the kitchen layout. Selecting the correct ducting to suit the rangehood is just as important as selecting the correct rangehood.
The variety of cooking appliances is increasing, from induction, gas and electric cooktops as well as wok and fish burners and heavy griddle plates. As well as the introduction of high-performance and high-end appliances such as the Wolf cooker are being considered in majority of new homes across Australia. The emissions from using any of the appliances above will quickly fill the room with smoke, grease and odours that are difficult to remove. Choosing the correct rangehood is important to ensure by-products of cooking are efficiently removed from the air.
Choosing the right rangehood:
The type and brand of cooking appliance used with the rangehood will determine the required air movement. Condari suggests that a QASAIR rangehood with two or more motors is used with the following indoor appliances or styles of cooking.
Wok burners with a rating of 15 megajoules or greater.
Fish burners and griddle plates.
Electric grillers.
Cooktops over 1000mm wide.
Condari does not recommend using a standard QASAIR rangehood over cooking appliances with a rating of 50 megajoules or greater. We will custom make your rangehood to work over these appliances, matching the width of your cooktop to your rangehood. As a minimum, we recommend that the rangehood be at least the same width as the cooktop underneath to ensure maximum capture efficiency. The filter area should be centred over the cooktop as much as possible for optimum performance as the rangehood fans are positioned in the centre of the rangehood and this is where the maximum air movement is achieved.
Choosing the right style:
We have a vast selection of rangehood models to match your kitchen and aesthetic style. Our range comprises of different widths and depths to accommodate wider cooktops, deeper benchtops and different sizes of overhead joinery.
Wall Mounted rangehoods are canopy style rangehoods that are installed against a wall over the cooktop. This style is designed to be exposed and not built into overhead joinery. A Wall Mounted rangehood is a great option if you would like to create a statement piece in your kitchen or alfresco area.
Island rangehoods are specifically designed for a kitchen or alfresco area where the stove or BBQ is positioned within the island bench. These rangehoods are mounted on the ceiling above the cooking appliance.
Undermount rangehoods are also known by the terms Undercabinet, Undercupboard and built-in or integrated rangehoods. These rangehoods are designed to be concealed behind cabinetry or joinery allowing seamless and uninterrupted joinery. Our Undermount models have the same powerful motors as our Wall Mounted or Island styles.
Although aesthetically different, all Condari rangehoods are fitted with the same powerful motors. Refer to our Air Movement information found under our Technical Information at the top of our home page.
The market for rangehoods used in Alfresco areas over a BBQ is growing:
The megajoule rating for outdoor barbecues can be 50mj and upwards which is much more powerful than the average domestic indoor cooktop. It is extremely important that a rangehood with adequate airflow is installed.
Condari manufactures Condor Rangehoods especially for the purpose of ventilation of outdoor areas. We require the following information to help specify the correct model over your BBQ.
Brand and type of barbecue that the rangehood will be used over.
Total megajoule rating of the barbecue.
Bench top depth.
Combi Set cooktops:
When using Combi Set cooktops, several points need to be kept in mind regarding the positioning of the units to ensure the best extraction is achieved. Condari recommends that the Combi Set cooktops be set at least 100mm apart so that large pots or a wok can be utilised at the same time.
