QASAIR and Condor Rangehoods are made from the highest quality austenitic, 18/8, Type 304 Brushed, Non-magnetic Stainless Steel that is resistant to corrosion.
Type 304 Stainless Steel is a steel alloy that is rendered resistant to corrosion with the addition of chromium. Stainless steel contains sufficient chromium to form a passive layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel thereby preventing the steel from corroding.
The chromium oxide layer can be upset by the application of salt, lemon juice, tomato sauce, mayonnaise or anything that is acidic or contains a preservative.
If QASAIR and Condor Rangehoods do not come into contact with corrosive substances, they will always look pristine.
Condari can manufacture custom-made rangehoods and ducting in Type 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel.
Marine Grade stainless Steel can be a good option for a rangehood or a piece of ducting in an outdoor area that is situated near the sea. Salt in seawater may cause stainless steel to corrode or rust more easily.
It is important to maintain the material. You can use olive oil on the surface of the rangehood and ducting to help maintain the finish, especially if the home is vacant for long periods.
